Women Take Action

A new group has emerged in Mbayi - the Mbayi Women's Club and I'm so pleased with an invitation to be part of the heartfelt plans this group of women are making. They caught my attention with a focus on caring for the chronically ill, seniors and orphans in their community. And I absolutely loved their idea of opening a recreation centre! What a fresh idea for a place where there is nothing of the kind. I remember, when first meeting the aged, how their isolation tugged at my heart and I wondered about bringing them together somehow. Now I see a way! I'm not yet sure how they'll reach out to the sick and orphans but look forward to sharing in the planning. What impresses me about this group is the initiative and commitment revealed by the carefully prepared constitution they put together and the $50.00 they raised amongst themselves for official registration. They are so excited about making a difference and, infected by their enthusiasm, I'm inspired to join in the implementation of their vision. To be continued...
